3 Months
I’ll put some new pictures up after this weekend. Things are healing very nicely. I’ve stopped using the hydro cream because I wasn’t noticing much of a difference. The continuation of darkness in color is due to my nautral pigmentation. There’s nothing I can really do about it. Some scars fade quickly and others take a lot longer based on your natural pigmentation. That’s why some people have keloid scars. Keloid scars are a more serious form of scarring, because they can carry on growing indefinitely into a large, tumorous (although benign) growth.

Thanks for your answers! Can’t wait to see the updated pics. Its nice to see since my treatment was almost 2 months ago now so I can compare a little. But yet another question from me. Will you now wait about a year and then get the scar correction treatment?

No, most won’t perform the surgery. I called about 10 different doctors to find one that would. I also asked to see pictures of previous work.

Hey thank you so much for your blog, you are the ONLY person I have found that has documented their experience of surgical excision.
I have a tattoo of the same size (slightly larger) that is on my upper inner arm. I have a consultation booked for March 23rd regarding surgical excision.
It would be great if you could keep your blog up & running and document the healing process as well..
xx

Hi there,
Im a 27 Year old gal that resides in Sydney..
I am going to have my tattoo surgically excised, it measures slightly lager than yours and is located on my upper inner arm. It will be removed in 2 operations 2 months apart to allow the skin time to stretch.
Please keep posting updates on your healing process, as you seem to be the ONLY girl that I’ve found that has undergone the procedure on a tattoo of that size.
(mine measures 12cm high x 7 cm width)
I am terrified of the scarring, and really want to see more pics of how your recovering.

Yes, I agree with Mike. Please update us again soon! As for Mike, how did your surgery go? And do either of you know if the shoulder blade is an area that surgeons won’t touch because it’s too mobile (during recovery) and contains too tight of skin? My tattoo is about 6 inches long, and only 2 inches at its widest point, but it’s along the bra line, so I wasn’t sure if doctors would even do this. Lasers probably won’t work because it’s VERY dark black (my skin really took to the ink!). Please – more updates from you guys!!
